  • Double flowers of about 16 cm
  • Delicate pink with white areas
  • Flowers indoors from December to February
  • About 45–55 cm tall
  • 5 bulbs for staggered flowering

'Lady Jane' brings soft pastel shades to winter. Its large flowers of about 16 cm show delicate pink with pale, almost white areas. They look romantic and graceful. With five bulbs you can plant in batches and enjoy new flowers for weeks.

About this variety

The flowers of 'Lady Jane' are lush and soft in colour. A pale pink merges into white, and the petals lie in several layers, giving the flower fullness. Depending on the light, the pink looks cooler or warmer. Strong stalks carry several flowers that open one after another, so the plant stays beautiful for a long time.

Its place is a bright room at about 18 to 22 °C. At about 45–55 cm tall, it suits the windowsill, chest of drawers or dining table. Five bulbs in a long bowl form a harmonious band. White Christmas roses, silvery foliage or pale grey ceramics underline the pastel shades. It also goes well with soft yellow daffodils in pots.

In the vase, 'Lady Jane' lasts a long time, especially if the room is cool. It will not be strongly scented, and pollinators play no part indoors. Plant the bulbs two to three weeks apart and flowering will last from Advent well into February. A single potted bulb is also popular as a small gift.

Planting

Pot the bulbs between October and January, each in its own pot only slightly larger than the bulb. A third to half of the bulb stays above the soil. After watering in, keep only slightly moist until the stalk appears. A bright, warm spot brings flowers after about eight to ten weeks.

Care

After flowering, cut off the stalk but let the leaves keep growing, and water and feed regularly. In summer the pot can go outside in a sheltered spot. From August a rest period without water follows so that the bulb flowers again in winter. All parts of the plant are toxic, so keep it away from children and pets.
