  • Pollen-free, ideal indoors
  • Scented, flowering from June to August
  • About 90–110 cm tall
  • Good for pots, containers and cutting

'Roselily Anouska' is one of the pollen-free double Oriental lilies. Its flowers are white with delicate pink markings at the edges. With its extra petals it looks almost like a rose and lasts a long time in the vase.

About this variety

In 'Roselily Anouska' extra petals replace the stamens. The result is densely double, star-shaped flowers that look quite different from classic lilies. The white petals are edged with a fine pink, often slightly wavy. The scent is pleasant, and because no pollen forms, the flower and its surroundings stay clean.

In the border, 'Roselily Anouska', at about 90–110 cm tall, is best placed in the middle. Pink phlox, lavender or silvery lamb's ears go well with its colours. It is also well suited to pots and containers; choose a large, stable one.

It shows its strengths in the vase: the double flowers last longer than those of normal Oriental lilies and leave no pollen stains. This makes it suitable for bouquets on the dining table or as a gift. In the garden the hardy bulbs return every year. Cut the stems at an angle and change the water regularly, and the buds will open one after another. In the garden, leave enough foliage so the bulb can ripen for next year.

Planting

Plant the bulbs from September to November or in spring from February to May. Set them 15–20 cm deep, about three times the height of the bulb, and 25–30 cm apart. A sunny to partially shaded spot with free-draining soil, chalky soil included, is ideal. 'head in the sun, feet in the shade' is the best rule.

Care

Keep the soil moist, and water containers regularly. Give a bulb fertiliser in spring. The double flowers are heavy, and a cane gives support. Watch out for lily beetle. Lilies are highly toxic to cats, pollen-free varieties included: keep the plant and vase water away from them.
