  • 100 bulbs of botanical daffodils
  • Wild species and natural forms in various colours
  • Flowers in March and April
  • Ideal for naturalising in meadows and lawns
  • About 35–45 cm tall

This mix brings together botanical daffodils, that is wild species and near-natural forms. They flower in March and April in shades of yellow and white and look more natural than large garden varieties. With 100 bulbs you can create an area that multiplies by itself over the years.

About this variety

Botanical daffodils are original species and forms close to them. They are usually smaller and daintier than the large-flowered garden varieties, which makes them look natural. This mix brings together different flower shapes and shades, creating a lively, varied picture.

The mix is intended for larger areas: meadows, patches of lawn, woodland edges and naturalistic gardens. At about 35–45 cm tall the plants fit well among grasses and early wild perennials. Combine them with crocuses and squills for a long start to spring. They can also be planted in large bowls.

Daffodils naturalise well and form ever denser colonies over the years. Voles and deer generally avoid them. Individual stems are suitable for small spring posies. Daffodils are not an important source of food for bees, but together with crocuses and squills they make a bee-friendly spring meadow. With little effort you create a piece of nature that becomes a little more beautiful every year.

Planting

Plant the bulbs from September to November, 10–15 cm deep and 10–15 cm apart. The tip points upwards. For a natural look, scatter the bulbs loosely and plant them where they land. A sunny to partly shaded spot with free-draining soil is ideal.

Care

Leave the foliage after flowering until it yellows. In a meadow, do not mow until the leaves have died back, usually from June. Little other care is needed. After a few years you can divide dense clumps. All parts of daffodils are poisonous. Wear gloves when planting, as the sap can irritate the skin.
