  • Repeat-flowering from June to October
  • Light, fresh fragrance
  • Grows about 240–260 cm tall

'Climbing Iceberg' is the climbing form of the popular rose 'Iceberg'. In loose clusters it bears pure white, double flowers that appear again and again from June to October. Against a sunny house wall or on a fence it looks fresh and elegant.

About this variety

White brings light to any garden, and 'Climbing Iceberg' does so for months. The double flowers appear in loose clusters, pure white to slightly creamy, above mid-green foliage. They have a light, fresh fragrance. The variety is the climbing form of the well-known bedding rose 'Iceberg'.

It reaches about 240–260 cm in height and around 200 cm in width. It needs a trellis, a fence or a rose arch. Against a sunny house wall or a dark hedge the white flowers look especially crisp. Blue clematis, lavender and catmint complement it well, as do other white plants in a white garden. It is only partly suitable for large containers.

From June to October it keeps producing new flowers, provided you remove faded blooms regularly. This keeps the rose a bright focal point in the garden into autumn. The clusters can also be cut for the vase and suit light, simple arrangements. A reliable climbing rose for anyone who likes calm colours.

Planting

Bare-root roses are best planted from October to April in frost-free ground. Soak the roots for a few hours beforehand. The graft union should sit about 5 cm below the soil, 30–40 cm away from the wall. Allow 150–200 cm to other plants. A sunny spot with moist soil is ideal.

Care

Water regularly, especially by walls where the soil is dry. Feed in spring and after the first flush. Deadhead consistently and the rose will flower into autumn. In spring, remove dead wood and shorten side shoots. The rose is hardy in Switzerland, even at higher altitudes.
