  • Double flowers in soft pink
  • Delicate scent in the garden and the vase
  • Flowers from July to September
  • About 50–70 cm tall
  • For borders and cutting gardens in full sun

This freesia bears densely double flowers in a soft pink reminiscent of rosebuds. They are delicately scented and open from July to September. The stems, about 50–70 cm tall, make the variety a lovely cut flower for romantic bouquets.

About this variety

Pink freesias look light and cheerful, and in double form they take on an almost nostalgic quality. This variety forms a row of buds on each stem that open one after another into round, many-layered flowers. The scent is delicate and fresh.

The plants grow about 50–70 cm tall and find their place in the middle of a border in a sunny garden. White ox-eye daisies, blue cornflowers or the grey foliage of cotton lavender go well with them. The variety is only partly suitable for pots; if you try, choose a deep, free-draining container in a warm spot.

Double pink freesias are a classic in wedding bouquets and table decorations. Cut the stems when the first flower shows and recut them slightly in the vase every few days; that way they last a long time and open the upper buds too. You can harvest regularly from July to September. Together with white freesias or some greenery from the garden, you can create a fragrant, personal bouquet for guests in no time.

Planting

Plant the tubers outdoors after the Ice Saints (mid-May), from mid-May to June, as they cannot tolerate frost. Set them about 5 cm deep and 5–10 cm apart in loose, loamy-sandy soil, tip upwards. Choose a warm spot in full sun. Pre-started tubers flower earlier.

Care

Water in dry weather without letting water stand. Support the stems with a net so the flowers stay clean. Cut off faded flowers. Before the first frost, lift the tubers, let them dry and store them frost-free.
