'Toto' is a dainty miniature daffodil with up to three flowers per stem. The long, creamy-white petals surround a small, pale yellow cup that turns creamy white with time. At about 15–25 cm tall, it is ideal for pots, rock gardens and lawns.

About this variety

If you are looking for a white miniature daffodil, 'Toto' is a fine choice. Up to three flowers open on each stem, with elongated creamy-white petals that bend slightly backwards over time. The small cup is pale yellow at first and then becomes almost as light as the petals. The effect is delicate and natural, almost like a wild form.

At about 15–25 cm tall, 'Toto' suits rock gardens, pots, balcony boxes and the front of beds. In a lawn, it naturalises well and forms loose, bright clumps. It combines nicely with 'Tête-à-tête', blue grape hyacinths or squills. In bulb lasagne pots, it takes the bottom layer.

In small glasses, the flowers look delicate and fresh. Voles and deer usually leave daffodils alone. 'Toto' grows in almost any spot and returns in greater numbers every year. Especially in small gardens, on balconies and in bowls by the entrance, it shows how much impact a small daffodil can have.

Planting

Plant the bulbs from September to December, tip upwards, 10–15 cm deep and 10–15 cm apart. Sunny to partly shaded spots with well-drained soil are ideal. In a lawn, scatter the bulbs loosely. In pots, they can sit close together.

Care

Leave the foliage after flowering until it turns yellow so the bulb can build up strength for next year. In a lawn, wait to mow until the leaves have died back. You can divide dense clumps in summer after a few years. Daffodils are poisonous and their sap harms other cut flowers, so stand freshly cut stems in water on their own for a few hours first.
