'Tresamble' is a Triandrus narcissus with up to three nodding, creamy-white flowers per stem. Its centre has a delicate yellow-green to cream shimmer. This old variety has a natural, almost wild character, a pleasant scent and is surprisingly weather-resistant.

About this variety

Triandrus narcissi have nodding flowers that hang from the stems like small droplets. 'Tresamble' carries up to three of them, in ivory and creamy white, with a small cup that shimmers soft yellow-green in the centre. The variety is old and looks natural, almost like a wild form. Despite their delicate appearance, the flowers stand up well to the weather.

In the garden, it weaves nicely through borders and pots, between tulips, forget-me-nots and early perennials. At the woodland edge and in meadows, it looks especially natural. White and blue companions such as bluebells, Puschkinia and white tulips emphasise its light colour. Plant it in groups so that the many flowers form a cloud.

It is very well suited to the vase and brings a pleasant scent indoors. Voles and deer usually leave daffodils alone. Leave the bulbs in place and 'Tresamble' will multiply over the years.

Planting

Plant the bulbs from September to December, tip upwards, 10–15 cm deep and 10–15 cm apart. A sunny to partly shaded position with well-drained, moist soil is ideal. Light shade under trees and shrubs is well tolerated. Plant groups of at least ten bulbs.

Care

Leave the foliage after flowering until it turns yellow so the bulb can build up strength for next year. In a lawn, wait to mow until the leaves have died back. You can divide dense clumps in summer after a few years. Daffodils are poisonous and their sap harms other cut flowers, so stand freshly cut stems in water on their own for a few hours first.
